Having a plan is something I am trying to get better at.

For most of my life, I have been goal-oriented, but I am not terribly organized. Only in my training have I ever properly planned how to hit goals.

With Training Lab and Throwing Lab, I was able to figure out my goals for competing and work backward to get where I wanted. Which gave me a detailed plan and progression on how to get there. This gave me markers to let me know that I was getting closer to achieving my goals.

If your goal is to hit a 315 bench, then you need to hit 225, 255, 275, and 308. You get the point. Why not apply this same method to your own life?

Do you have some life or business goals?

Well, work back from where you want to be to develop some markers to keep you on track. You can do the exact same thing for fitness and nutrition. You're not going to lose 30lbs overnight, you need to accomplish a few things along the way. Set a goal of strict calorie intake for a week. Then two. Then worry about getting down 1lb a week. Then get to five.

This is how momentum builds. Use that momentum to keep pushing progress. As you become more familiar with this process, you can use it to roadmap your way to any of your goals.

Having a goal and a plan to achieve it is only one part of the puzzle. The other part is commitment.

Any goal worth a f*ck takes 100% of your attention. To make sure you're 100% focused, you need to make sure you're not falling into "failure avoidance." This is where most people get stuck, they talk about what they want to do, but they don't do much to make anything happen. We know those types and maybe have done it yourself, I know I have. You kinda toe the waters so that if you fail, you have an out.

Don't give yourself an out. 

That's part of why you've allowed yourself to fail. Whatever is worth doing, dive in 100%.

No one accomplished great things by starting with some half-ass attempt. Don't be that guy. Fail and succeed at full speed.

The more experience you get with anything, the better you recognize failure is coming. I remember watching professional BMX guys, and the thing they are really great at is bailing.

They don't hold on to the handlebars waiting to get hurt. They bail as soon as they feel the failure coming. This allows them to regroup and try again with minimal damage.

Be like them. Listen to your gut and not your ego.

Own your shit and figure out how to press forward and reach those goals along your path.

2023 is a new chance to make your life whatever you want it to be.

If you're waiting, ask yourself why? If it's not a real reason, fucking get to it. Time is ticking and waits for no one.
